Day 01: Arrival Tripoli (Orientation Tour)
Arrival at Tripoli airport, meet and assistance and transfer to Tripoli and then visit the old Medina : its narrow alleyways, its elegant mosques and the animated souk
Dinner and overnight.
Day 02: Tripoli visit - Sabratha - Yefren
Breakfast.
We visit the National Museum, the Ahmed Karamalli Pasha mosque and the old Medina: its narrow alleyways, its elegant mosques and the animated souk.
Afterwards departure to Sabratha. Which was selected as a trading post by the Phoenician merchants and holds one of the most magnificent and interesting Roman Theater and one of the most splendid mosaics of the Byzantine period. We finish the visit with the Amphitheater, the most notable Roman building.
We head toward Yefren for dinner and overnight.
Day 03: Yefren – Nalut - Ghadames
Breakfast in the hotel.
We take the road to Ghadames on the way we stop at Nalut, a small Berber village and visit the ancient grain stores.Continue to Ghadames, through the oasis of Sinawn en Draj. Late arrival, dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 04: Ghadames
Breakfast in the hotel. Entire day dedicated to Ghadames, a town today classified by UNESCO as one of World Heritage. We visit the museum and the old town. Mint tea will be served at sunset in the desert near Ghadames. dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 05: Ghadames – Kabaw – Gharyan
After breakfast, drive to Tripoli. Stop on the way for the visit of Kabaw, a Berber town and an old Italian settlement. Continue to Gharyan and visit the local pottery market. Dinner and overnight.
Day 06: Gharyan - Leptis Magna - Syrte
Departure to Leptis Magna, one of the best-preserved cities of antiquity. Visit the Arch of Septimus Severus, the Cardo Maximus and Decumanus Maximus, the Palestra, the Baths of Hadrian, the Nymphaeum and the Street of Colonnades, the Severus Forum with adjoining Basilica, the Harbour, and the Old Forum.
visit of the Museum and Amphitheater, we head toward Syrte , late arrival, dinner and overnight.
Day 07: Syrte - Sultan– Benghazi
Breakfast in the hotel, we head toward Benghazi on the coastal road which is famous for its stunning views over the Mediterranean sea, on our way we pass by Sultan we visit its famous mosque, arrival later during the day to Benghazi for dinner and overnight.
Day 08: Benghazi – Tocra - Ptolemais –Qaser Libya - Al bayda
Breakfast, Departure for Tokra one of the first ports settled from Cyrene,
Inside the walls you find Greek and Roman Columns and the excavated remains of Roman tombs cut into the rock wall of a sunken pit.
The fort's current structure dates from the turkish and italian eras.
Outside the gates to the west a small archeological railway runs west to the eastern basilica, within which what remains of the main sanctuary, apse and baptistry are visible along with some ancient greek inscription.
A small museum contains a site map of Tokra with some very interesting tomb artifacts.
Afternoon drive to Ptolemais, a city founded in the 3rd century BC. We visit the Museum, the Arch of Constantine, the Columns Palace and the great cisterns.
Continue to Qaser Libya the residence of the bishop. It has two Churches of great religious interest.
Finally we head towards Al bayda for dinner and overnight
Day 09: Al bayad – Cyrene – Al bayda
After breakfast, we head to the beautiful city of Cyrene: we visit the Forum and Agora, The Acropolis Hill (which is still yet to be excavated), the Fountain and the Sanctuary of Apollo, and the Great Temple of Zeus. Later in the afternoon we head back to Al bayda for dinner and overnight
Day 10: Al bayda - Apollonia – Lathroun – Ras el hillal – Benghazi (by flight)Tripoli
After breakfast, excursion to Ancient Apollonia, Cyrene’s port for a thousand years. We visit the Extra-Mural Church, the Theatre, the three churches, and we conclude our visit with the Museum.
Then, drive to Lathrun and Ras Al Hillal. Lathrun contains 2 Byzantine Churches in a very good state of conservation. The one on the west imposes herself above the Mediterranean with an impressive place for meditation. The one on the east is just behind the hill. East of Apollonia is the most dramatic scenery of the Libyan coast; the scenery of Ras Al Hillal. The best approach would be from the west with its aggressive mountains and its canyon valleys overlooking the Aljabal Alkhdar.
Return to al bayda for dinner and overnight
Day 11: Tripoli departure
Breakfast. Transfer to airport and departure for home destination.
