In the 3rd and 4th Century, the Emperor Septimus Severus ordered the construction of strong fortresses alongside the southern border of his Emporium: in Ghadames, Ghirza, Gariyat and Abu Nijayn. The village of Ghirza had among the most famous fortified farms. Behind this line of defence, the Emperor defined a large area on which he had built fortified farms, all relates by roads. We will visit the village of Ghirza with its exclusive sized farms and the necropole north with its mausolea.
